Investigation boards
Picture, file, note, and sticky-note cards; multiple tiles for the same evidence; connecting lines; named colored zones; group movement; autosave; centered opening view; wheel zoom and background panning.
Cards whose centers are inside a zone follow it when dragged. Resizing or deleting a zone leaves its cards in place. Boards are case-specific, follow case permissions, and are read-only when closed.
Invoices & collections
Per-case rates, automatic invoicing on closure, structured business details, branding, currency choices, optional tax and recurring fees, payment recording, refunds requiring a reason, and permission-controlled invoice reports.
Clients can see issued invoices for shared cases, including status and remaining balance. Downloads are printable HTML; open the file and use Print / Save PDF for a PDF. Money transfers remain outside Casehaven.
Client relationships & focus
An optional owner setting assigns converted clients to the converting user and routes matching returning inquiries to that user. Other employees cannot claim those inquiries. Owner/Admin oversight remains available.
Match by a unique email or phone; conflicting matches require Admin review. Existing clients can be assigned from their profiles. Solo mode hides team controls while retaining accounts and assignments. Empty pinned sections hide on Clients and Cases; Dashboard tiles remain visible.
Updating an existing host
- Create an encrypted backup in Casehaven and keep its password and your recovery key safely.
- Finish any work in progress and close Casehaven on the host. Arrange a brief interruption for connected employees.
- Run Casehaven-Host-Setup-1.4.0.exe with administrator approval. Use the existing installation location. Do not uninstall or delete your workspace data first.
- Open Casehaven and sign in using the existing account. Review clients, casework, and settings, then refresh employee windows.
The updater keeps workspace records, encryption keys, connection information, and configuration. The host service is stopped and restarted during setup. Keep a verified backup before every upgrade.
This updater is for a Casehaven Manual Inquiries Edition host. Do not use it to replace an installation that relies on website inquiry integration. It does not convert an employee-only installation into a host. Employee Client 1.3.0 remains available separately and receives the workspace interface from its configured host.
Setting up a new host
Install on a compatible Windows x64 PC with administrator approval. Host storage requires NTFS and Windows EFS support. The installer includes its required host components. A new host starts with no default account or customer records; complete owner setup, add your organization branding, and store the recovery key safely.
Fresh installs use the normal password policy and start with remote access off. Updates retain existing explicit host configuration, including development options if previously enabled. Configure it from the owner’s host when needed, then give employees their connection package and independently verified certificate fingerprint. MySQL and the internal API remain local services.
Before downloading
The installer is unsigned. Windows may identify an unknown publisher. Confirm that your download came from getcasehaven.com. Pricing, commercial license terms, and support terms remain to be announced. No purchase or payment is taken here.
This is the Manual Inquiries Edition. It does not capture website inquiries or add a website connector. The browser demo uses the 1.4.0 interface with sample investigation boards, invoicing, payment and refund records, reports, and shared-case portal invoices. Changes stay in each visitor’s browser tab. Desktop operations, authentication, encryption, mail delivery, and financial records are simulated.
